Sometimes, the most remarkable experiences come from the most unexpected moments. One such moment happened when I was in my early 20s, heading to the Dominican Republic for a surf vacation. What began as a vacation trip quickly turned into an incredible opportunity.

On the plane, after hours of sleep (zzzzzz), the woman sitting next to me struck up a conversation. Out of the blue, she asked if I’d be interested in modeling for a clothing brand. It was a surreal question that transformed my vacation plans.

What started as a simple getaway soon became a chance to fly back to NYC for a shoot. It was an unexpected twist that I embraced with open arms. This experience remains one of my best kept secrets hehe, but it’s one I reflect on often. I learned so much, and I still enjoy looking at the photos from that time, reminiscing about how it reignited my passion for photography.

This experience taught me that sometimes luck or surprise hides in the smallest of corners. It’s about seizing those moments and stepping outside your comfort zone. I felt nervous, but I took the leap and it paid off. This sense of tension and excitement often reappears in my work related challenges now and I’ve come to enjoy it.

The lesson? When opportunities come your way, don’t hesitate. Grab them and see where they might lead. You never know what incredible experiences might be just around the corner.
